Abstract

The female fly lays eggs in ripening fruits. under the skin with the help of a sharp ovipositor. Damaged fruits ripen prematurely and fall. From the fruits, the larvae go to a shallow depth, where they pupate. Larvae can jump, so puparia can be found within a radius of 2-3 m from fallen fruits.
