Abstract: Population dynamics of phytophagous insects is regarded as part of the microevolutional process. The genetic uniqueness of a producer-consumer association is suggested to condition relations in a biocoenosis and, in turn, the way a particular population reacts to external factors. It is concluded that no universal theory of population dynamics can be proposed.
