| Abstract: | The owlet-moths (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae) of the following seven Ukrainian steppe reserves have been studied (number of species is given in parentheses): Chernomorsky biosphere preserve (156), ‘Askania Nova’ (64), ‘Kamennye Mogily’ (228), ‘Khomutovskaya Step’ (228), ‘Provalskaya Step’ (155), ‘Stanichno-Lugansky’ (124), ‘Streltsovskaya Step’ (211). A total of 392 noctuid species are recorded in these reserves; 444 species are listed for the entire steppe zone of Ukraine. In the steppes north to Azov Sea, the number of species and their occurrence showed no significant change during the last 100 years. During this period, 6 species disappeared in this zone, and 3 new species and 1 new subspecies have been described. |
